Section 504 is a civil rights law that seeks to “level the playing field” for individuals with disabilities and protects against discrimination. In this fast-paced and engaging session, participants will learn qualifying conditions as well as substantial limitations that together determine eligibility for a Section 504 Accommodation Plan. Participants will gain practical tips for the process of developing a Section 504 plan and for avoiding common pitfalls. Together we will actively review case scenarios to practice skills in identifying appropriate and reasonable accommodations for students. Participants in this class will learn the basics of Section 504, the law, and how it impacts school. Participants will also learn about discipline practices with students on 504 plans.
This class will be held live online using Zoom.
